Dr. Youngok Bok is a Doctor of Traditional Korean Medicine and a certified expert in clinical aromatherapy. Since the late 1990s, she has devoted her career to researching the therapeutic benefits and applications of essential oils.
In 2000, she moved to the United Kingdom to pursue formal studies in aromatherapy. During her seven years there, she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Plymouth, conducting psychophysiological research on how lavender and rosemary essential oils affect cognitive and executive function.
Upon returning to Korea, she established an aromatherapy academy to train professionals and deepen the practice in Korea. Her continued research on the effects of aromatherapy on stress-induced atopic dermatitis led to a master’s degree in cosmetic science.
In 2015, Dr. Bok earned her Ph.D. in Traditional Korean Medicine with a focus on the moisturizing, anti-aging, and antioxidant effects of Prunus mume (plum blossom) extract on the skin.
Building on decades of clinical and academic experience, she officially registered MESACOSA as a cosmetics manufacturer and responsible distributor with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in 2019. She developed and patented a method for producing natural skincare formulations, officially registered with the Korean Intellectual Property Office. This patented technique is applied to nearly all of her skincare products, many of which are now COSMOS Organic certified for their safety and quality.
